Day 1. Arrival to Ecuador

Once you arrive to Ecuador you be provided transportation to your hotel. (most flights arrive in the evening).

Day 2. City Tour in Quito

Enjoy a relaxing morning free of activities to acclimate. At 1:30PM you will be driven to Verde Esmeraldas, an excellent restaurant for lunch. After lunch tour the city of Colonial Quito.

Take in the beauty and history of colonial Quito with emphasis on the old city. The visit begins with a quick view of some residential neighborhoods in modern Quito and then it continues to central Quito.In colonial Quito,stroll around Independence Square, from where it is possible to see and photograph the House of the President, "Palacio de Carondelet,” the Cathedral, Archbishops Palace and City Hall. From there the visitors walk towards the most striking churches in the city. The Compañia de Jesus, the most impressive church in Ecuador. It was build and finished about 350 years ago by Jesuits. Another impressive site in the tour is San Francisco Square, a cobblestone square one block in size, surrounded by red tile roofed, white washed buildings.

After the city tour you will have dinner in Octova de Corpus or Zazu.

DAY 3: Departure from Quito and Isabela Island

In the morning you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Galapagos. Upon arrival to Baltra you will have to pay the Park tax and go through Galapagos immigration procedures. Passports will be needed upon arrival.

Once you have passed through, you will connect to Isabela Island by plane. Upon arrival on Isabela Island, you will have a private transportation to the Hotel Casa de Marita. Spend a free afternoon enjoying the beach.

DAY 4: Tour to Muro de las Lagrimas and Wetlands

In the morning your guide will pick you up from the hotel and give you a tour to the Wall of Tears and the Wetlands.

Wall of Tears:

“This site has historic importance. It is located at the far side of the beach following the trail that goes to the abandoned airport. The trail starts at the beginning of the long beach, where is possible to see shore birds, and then it passes near by the cemetery and continues inland until the wall is reach. This wall was constructed by the prisoners of the penal colony that existed in Puerto Villamil from 1944 until 1954."

Wetlands:

“The wetlands adjacent to Puerto Villamil are recognized as a RAMSAR site due to their importance and presence of a variety of species. The area is unique in the world. There are nine trails thought this area."

Your guide will drop you off at the hotel after the tour. There are good places to eat in town or you may also have lunch at the hotel. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy the town and the beach in front the hotel.

DAY 5: Full day Sierra Negra Volcano

In the morning your guide and driver will take you to the Volcan Sierra Negra. We recommend you to take a wind stopper / rain jacket; it normally rains at the top of Sierra Negra. The tour includes a box lunch.

Sierra Negra Volcano:

“The Galapagos Island was formed by the accumulation of volcanic material produced by the eruptions. There are six volcanoes on Isabela, all of which are active. Sierra Negra is the last volcano to have erupted, on the 22nd of October in 2005, and it has the second largest crater on earth. Due to the larva mainly having flowed into the crater, it did not pose a threat to the population and made it possible to observe the event from “close up”. During the week that the eruption took place our island were privileged to received scientist from various countries that studied the phenomenon, and visitors who enjoyed the beauty of this spectacular natural event."

After the tour you will descend to Puerto Villamil, and then back to the hotel.

DAY 6: Tour to Tintoreras

Today you will visit the Tintoreras; a beautiful place where you will encounter a lot of the characteristic Galapagos fauna such as penguins, sea turtles and marine iguanas. After a short walk you have the opportunity to do snorkeling with the Galapagos sharks.

Tintoreras:

“These lagoons are found within and around the small settlement of Puerto Villamil. They harbor numerous populations of lagoon birds, the Flamingo and the black – necked stilt being the most several species of migratory birds, either on the long white sand beach or around the lagoons. Dense vegetation separates the lagoons from one another, making it difficult to find them."

Enjoy a free afternoon upon your return to the hotel.

DAY 7: Isabela – Baltra – Quito (San Isidro)

Early morning depart to Puerto Villamil Airport for your flight to Baltra. In Baltra connect to your flight to Quito. At Quito airport a guide/driver will meet the group and take you to San Isidro.

Cabañas San Isidro, surrounded by its own 1,900 hectare forest reserve, has built a reputation for being the pioneer in private conservation and birding/nature tourism on the northeast slope of the Ecuadorian Andes.

Day 8: Rain Forest and Hamadryade Lodge

Travel east to the rain forest of Ecuador and continue to Tena to Hamadryade Lodge. Arrival to Hamadryade lodge will be around lunch time.

Hamadryade Lodge is an opening within the rainforest, an elegant example of contemporary architecture nested at the heart of an exuberant nature. The luxurious bungalows with their sumptuous bathrooms will offer a unique opportunity to live this Amazon experience. Overlooking the Napo River, the sounds of the jungle will accompany your dreams for a perfect night. Each bungalow is a tribute to the mysterious cultures of various Amazonian ethnic groups, a harmonious alliance between tradition and modern design.

Enjoy activities such as a visit to the butterfly farm or go for a hike after arrival.

Day 9. Papallacta Thermal Springs

On your way back from the rain forest, you will stop at Termas de Papallacta (hot springs) for the night. Papallacta Thermal Springs is a hotel with a beautiful setting located on the Eastern Andes at 11000 feet of altitude. The main attraction are the thermal springs where you can enjoy relaxing in the hot pools or enjoy nature while walking around the cloud forest. In this part of the country the biodiversity is very high due to its closeness to the Amazon Basin. Papallacata Thermal Springs has a great Spa you can enjoy after lunch or a sort walk.

Day 10. Head home

You have will be taken to the airport for your international flight.
